Spring School 2010 continued...

Every Nation Pretoria sent a team into Eersterust during the School holidays to hold a Spring School at Prosperitus High School on 23 September to 2 October. The purpose of the week was four-fold:

1) To assist the scholars academically by teaching extra classes in five key subject areas.
2) To give the scholars exposure to culture and sport activities such as drama, dancing, film making, volleyball, soccer and rugby clinics.
3) To start a project that will improve the infrastructure of the school in order to create better learning environments.
4) To see the Kingdom of God advance in the community through the message of Christ shared, discipleship and the ongoing relationships formed with the scholars and teachers.

At the end of the week a “talent and worship” evening was held, called Eersterust's Got Talent where the scholars had an opportunity to showcase their talents, dramas, dancing, and short-films practiced and created during the week. The evening was a very big success with a full-house attendance and ended with a time of worship and prayer. On this evening 65 people dedicated their lives to Christ.

Eersterust's Got Talent Participants

After the mission 18 people from ENPTA committed to remain involved in Eersterust and help with the follow up and further development projects. Point-persons have volunteered in each key area to start and coordinate further initiatives:

1. Academic: To link the ENPTA University students with the current extra classes already happening at the school and to initiate other extra classes in subject areas with no existing extra classes.
2. Drama: Sasha Stroebel is investigating the possibilities of starting regular drama classes at the school.
3. Sport: Champions for Christ (the sports ministry of Every Nation) is exploring the possibilities of helping the school with their sporting coordination and coaching, since no such structures exist at the moment. Suggestions have also been made to help with revamping the sport infrastructure that is completely dilapidated.
4. Project: Funds are being raised to revamp and secure the school’s bathrooms that have been vandalized. The total costs of this project is R180 000 and includes the resurrection of a new palisade around the bathroom building.
5. Discipleship: Nine groups, with two mature leaders from Every Nation Pretoria each, are following up the people that dedicated their lives to Christ during the week. The aim of this follow up is to start small discipleship groups, to lay solid Biblical foundations in each of the scholar’s lives and to raise them up to influence and disciple their friends at school.
